VILLAGE Kembiri in the District of Membalong, Belitung wanted to be established as a traditional village. This desire is a form of local village community support for the development of the tourism sector by local governments. So that this village will also become one of the tourist destinations.

The desire was conveyed by local village community leaders when holding the Maras Taun, Sunday (10/5) in front of members of the Babel Islands Province DPRD and several Belitung Regency Government officials. Local village community leaders hope that the local government will realize the proposed designation of this traditional village.

Sarie, a community leader in Kembiri Village, said that the desire came from the village community. So far, the people of Kembiri Village have always maintained the regional arts to exist in the midst of the modern era.

Traditional activities that are still routinely carried out in the village include niangg Nanggok. This traditional fishing activity is carried out every year. Other traditional arts development such as measles and dulmulok is also carried out.

"So for dulmulok there are two groups, one adult group and one elementary school student. They have been taught and nurtured to preserve this art," said Sarie.

This traditional village will add tourism references to Belitung going forward. Currently Belitung as a new tourist destination still relies on the natural potential of its beaches to boost tourism. This tourism village is expected to boost Belitung as a tourist destination by strengthening arts and culture. (*)
