Maras Taun is usually held by the villagers with traditional rituals led by local village shamans. Aside from being a gratitude, in the Maras Taun also held a ritual of rebel to clean the village from evil things that disturb the community.
Various necessities as well as customary rituals are also prepared in each Maras Taun, including kesalan, rakes / incense, fresh flour as a sign of the activity of the maras taun and water. After the ritual led by the village shaman, a village cleansing was carried out using a splinter (neruse leaf and water).
In each cultural event this ancestor also did not leave lepat as a dish. In addition, there is also a special performing arts of Belitong Malay and a showcase of regional superior products such as a mini market held by the community.
The area that routinely holds Maras Taun with a large enough scale is the Nasik Strait District. In the third week of April 2015, the community held Maras Taun for seven days. The top event will be held on Sunday (4/26).
During this week, various activities were held. From folk entertainment, competitions and regional arts to enliven this annual event. This activity is also an effort to introduce Nasik Strait tourism as part of supporting tourism in Belitung.
The event is also worth watching tourists from up close to get to know the unique culture of Belitung. Various regions in Belitung usually hold this cultural activity in April or harvest season every year. (*)
