Hok Tek Che KELENTENG in the Tanjungpandan Market area was visited by the Chinese community on Friday (8/28) night to attend the ritual of praying. This ritual is held every 15th of the 7th month of the lunar calendar. This ritual also attracts the surrounding community and tourists.

The ritual begins Friday afternoon by opening the veil on the face of a replica of Thai Se Ya (symbol of the king of the afterlife or ruler of the afterlife). A large, tall Thai Se Ya statue. The dominance of red and dark blue faces can be seen on this statue.

The offerings from Chinese people in the form of fruits, cakes and roasted pork are located in front of this statue. Large-sized replica boats also decorate the other parts of the temple yard. In front of the replica of this boat there is also a small altar for prayer.

Large shelves are also prepared to arrange residents' donations in the form of food and fruit. These donations are placed in containers in the form of woven sacks which are often referred to as chopstick sacks. The lion dance attraction enlivens the atmosphere at night.

The prayer ritual is ended with the burning process of the Thai Se Ja replica and the boat and other replicas starting at 00.00 WIB. This process is carried out in locations around the Port of Tanjungpandan. Basic food donations to needy residents about three or four days after the convention.

Sembayang conquest carried out by the Chinese community is one of the activities that has the potential to be used as tourism. But this activity must be packaged even better so that it can become a tourism activity. The activity organizer is actively informing tour operators and tour guides.

Tourism is an activity where tourists come to a place to witness the tourist attraction. Talking about tourist attraction means talking about a dish for tourists, both natural and artificial. Both must complement each other.

One example of a tourist attraction is cultural traditions. Belitong has a very rich cultural tradition and is a potential tourism that has not been explored to the maximum. Chinese, Javanese, Madurese, Batak, Padang, Bugis, Sundanese and Balinese are some examples of cultures that exist on Belitung Island.

Belitung's diversity is a tourism asset as a tourist destination. Various ethnic and ethnic activities can be packaged and presented to tourists. But until now there have been no activities that were packaged properly. (*)
